Panel installation
Install the Panasaurus panel with the automated installer or a manual Docker Compose stack.
The panel ships as a Docker Compose stack: the panel image itself, MariaDB for state, and Redis for cache, sessions, and queues. There is no bare-metal installation path — the panel is built via Docker and installed via Docker, which is also what keeps upgrades to a single command.
Requirements
- Ubuntu 22.04+ or Debian 12 (any apt-based distribution with systemd works)
- Root or sudo access
- 2 GB of RAM minimum for the compose stack
- Ports 80 and 443 free (or the custom port you pass to
--port)
Option A — the automated installer
bash install.sh --panelThat is the whole installation. Behind the scenes the installer:
- Installs Docker and the Compose plugin if they are missing
- Downloads
panel.tar.gzfrom the panel releases and verifies it against the publishedCHECKSUM - Extracts the stack into
/opt/panasaurus/panel - Generates strong MariaDB credentials and an initial admin password, and writes them into
docker-compose.yml - Starts the stack and polls
GET /api/healthuntil it reports healthy - Opens ports 80 and 443 in your firewall (unless
--no-firewall)
When it finishes you get the panel URL, the admin email, and a one-time admin password:
Panasaurus panel setup finished
URL: http://203.0.113.10
Admin: admin@panasaurus.local
Password: 4f1c9a2b7e8dSave the password
The initial admin password is generated once and printed once. Log in and change it from the account page immediately.
Customize the run with flags — for example, a domain and a specific admin account:
bash install.sh --panel --panel-url https://panel.example.com \
--admin-email ops@example.comOption B — manual Docker Compose
If you would rather see every moving part, download a release and run the stack yourself:
mkdir -p /opt/panasaurus/panel && cd /opt/panasaurus/panel
curl -fsSLO https://github.com/panasaurus/panel/releases/latest/download/panel.tar.gz
curl -fsSLO https://github.com/panasaurus/panel/releases/latest/download/CHECKSUM
sha256sum -c CHECKSUM
tar -xzf panel.tar.gz --strip-components=1Open docker-compose.yml and fill in the placeholders:
| Placeholder | Purpose |
|---|---|
CHANGE_ME_PLEASE | MariaDB application password (MYSQL_PASSWORD and DB_PASSWORD must stay identical) |
CHANGE_ME_TOO_PLEASE | MariaDB root password |
APP_URL | The public URL users will visit |
PANASAURUS_ADMIN_EMAIL / _USERNAME / _PASSWORD | Uncomment to seed the initial admin account on first boot |
Then bring it up:
docker compose up -d
docker compose logs -f panel # watch the first boot migrate and seedFirst boot applies migrations and seeds the Blueprint framework automatically. If you did not set the admin environment variables, create the first admin account inside the container:
docker compose exec panel php artisan user:createFirst steps after login
- Change the admin password.
- Set your location and create a node under Admin → Nodes — the Wings installation walks through this.
- Import eggs from the eggs marketplace under Admin → Nests.
- Review the panel configuration page for mail, HTTPS, and timezone settings.
Updating
Pull the new images and restart — migrations run on boot:
cd /opt/panasaurus/panel
docker compose pull
docker compose up -dOr simply re-run bash install.sh --panel: it detects the existing installation, keeps your configuration and data, and refreshes the running stack. Back up the data/ directory before major version upgrades.
